Speak For Them

Privacy

Speak For Them is a child safeguarding reform campaign. This site is built to work without collecting your personal information. Here is exactly what happens with anything you enter.

The Write to your MP page

Nothing you type — your name, address, postcode, email or personal sentence — is sent to us or stored by this site. It exists only on your own screen, inside the letter it builds for you.

When you press "Find my MP", your postcode is sent to the UK Parliament's official Members API solely to identify your MP. Parliament's own privacy policy applies to that lookup.

When you open the letter in your email app, the letter and the MP's address are handed to your own email provider, and their privacy policy applies from that point.

Analytics

We use GoatCounter, a privacy-friendly analytics service, to count page visits and button use — for example, how many times the “Copy my letter” button was pressed. These are button presses, not people or sent letters. It sets no cookies, does not track you across the web, and never sees who you are or anything you type into the letter.

On the campaign map, a postcode search is sent to postcodes.io, a free postcode lookup service, only to find your area. We don't save it.

The buttons on this site only copy text, open your own email or WhatsApp, or open your phone's share menu. They never install anything, and they never give us or anyone else access to your phone.

The "I've sent my letter" button is a way for supporters to report that they have sent a letter. Any recorded confirmation is self-reported and does not verify sending or receipt. We don't see who you are or what you wrote.

When you copy your letter, open it in your email app, or tell us you've sent it, we also count which constituency the letter is for. We record the constituency name only, never your postcode, name or address. This is how the campaign map shows where letters have gone.

Fonts

Our pages load their typefaces from Google Fonts. When a page loads, your browser requests the font files from Google, which can see your IP address in that request. Google's privacy policy applies to those requests.
